Mobile radar surveillance for a live building site

The Challenge

Building sites present a demanding security environment, with large and changing perimeters that need reliable protection around the clock. The requirement was to detect movement by people and vehicles in all weather conditions while giving operators clear visual verification, on a site where the boundary moves as the build progresses.

The Solution

Omni Guard Radar was deployed as a bespoke mobile platform combining radar, a PTZ camera, 4G transmission, local recording, alarm integration and battery backup. With an operational range of up to 200 metres, the system covers approximately 125,000 square metres. When movement is detected the PTZ camera is automatically directed at the target for clear day and night imagery. Detection is defined across up to 36 zones with sensitivity and clutter settings that reduce false alarms from trees, small animals and nearby roads, and each zone can be configured for multi-level cause and effect so alarms route to the right operator, supervisor or security manager.

The Result

The site gained continuous radar-based detection with automated camera verification, configurable zones, managed alarm escalation and resilient communications, all from a mobile platform that redeploys as the perimeter changes. Radar offers improved detection over PIR sensors, which rely on detecting emitted heat, because radar actively measures the environment.
