1. Who we are

Advanced Perimeter Systems Limited ("APS", "we", "us") is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. We are a UK manufacturer of perimeter security systems, registered in Scotland (company number SC164963), with our registered office at 16 Cunningham Road, Springkerse Industrial Estate, Stirling FK7 7TP, Scotland, United Kingdom.

2. The information we collect

Contact and enquiry forms (including our campaign landing pages): your name, company, email address, telephone number, country, the nature of your enquiry and any message you write.

Find a local partner: your email address and location, so we can put you in touch with an approved APS installer in your region.

Technical library: when you request a DWG (CAD) file we ask for your name, company, email address, telephone number, role, the drawing concerned and brief project details, so we can check the request and send the file. When you open or download a PDF drawing or datasheet for the first time we ask for your email address. Your browser remembers that you have provided it so you are not asked again on the same device.

All forms are processed by our hosting provider, Netlify, protected by a hidden anti-spam field, and delivered to our sales team by email. When you telephone or email us directly, we hold the correspondence and contact details you share with us.

With your consent we also collect technical information about visits to the site (pages viewed, referring site, campaign parameters, device and browser characteristics, page performance and how you interact with pages) through the analytics tools described in section 5.

Our website is delivered through Cloudflare and Netlify, which process your IP address and request details in order to serve pages, protect the site from attack and keep short-lived server logs. This is essential to operating the website and does not require consent.

3. How we use it and our lawful basis

We use enquiry, partner-request and technical-library details to respond to you, send you the documents you asked for, prepare quotations and, where relevant, discuss your project with you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest (responding to a business enquiry you initiated, and supporting specifiers who use our technical documentation) or, where the enquiry leads to a contract, steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time.

We use analytics and advertising measurement data to understand how the website performs, improve its content and measure our marketing campaigns. Our lawful basis is your consent, given through the cookie banner.

We do not sell personal data. We only share it with the service providers listed in section 7, and only so they can provide their services to us.

4. How long we keep it

Enquiry, partner-request and technical-library records are retained for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards (typically no more than 24 months) unless the request leads to a business relationship, in which case records are kept for the duration of that relationship and as required by law (for example, accounting records).

Analytics data is held in aggregated or pseudonymised form (random identifiers, not names) for up to 26 months in Google Analytics and up to 24 months in Clearview, after which it is deleted or fully anonymised.

5. Cookies and website analytics

Essential storage: required for the website to function and set without consent. This covers your cookie preference ("aps-cookie-consent") and, once you have provided it, the email address used for technical-library downloads ("aps-download-email"), both held in your browser's local storage so you are not asked twice. No tracking is carried out with this information.

Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement: loaded only if you choose "Accept all". They help us understand site usage and measure advertising campaigns. We use Google Consent Mode, so if you choose "Essential only" Google tags receive a "denied" signal and do not store cookies or identifiers.

Clearview analytics: a first-party analytics service operated for us by Swanswater Technology Group Ltd (STG), a UK company, and loaded only if you choose "Accept all". Clearview records the pages you view, the site or campaign that referred you, time on page, scroll depth, whether you started a form (the field name only, never what you typed), device type, screen size, browser language, time zone and page performance metrics. It stores a random visitor identifier and visit count in your browser's local storage and a session identifier in session storage (keys beginning "_stg_"). It does not use cookies, does not identify you by name and does not share data with advertising networks. If you choose "Essential only", Clearview is not loaded and any identifiers it previously stored are removed.

You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, or by clearing site data in your browser.

6. Embedded content

Our contact page embeds a Google Maps view of our Stirling headquarters. When that page loads, your browser requests the map directly from Google, which may set its own cookies and collect data under the Google Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). No other third-party content is embedded on this site.

7. Who we share data with

Netlify, Inc. (website hosting and form processing), Cloudflare, Inc. (content delivery and security in front of the website) and Google LLC (Tag Manager, Analytics and Ads measurement where consented, and the map embed on our contact page). These providers may process data in the United States; transfers are safeguarded by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

Swanswater Technology Group Ltd (Clearview website analytics, and website development and support on our behalf), a company registered in the United Kingdom acting as our data processor.

We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
