Layered perimeter security for critical national infrastructure

APS Technical Team · 18 February 2026 · 8 min read

Critical national infrastructure (CNI) demands more than a single line of defence. The accepted standard is defence in depth - layering deterrence, detection, delay and response so that no single failure exposes the asset.

Deterrence begins at the boundary. An active deterrent such as Electro-Fence™ signals that a site is protected and makes casual intrusion far less likely.

Detection runs in parallel. Flexiguard™ PIDS on the fence line and Omni Guard Radar over open ground ensure that any genuine attempt is identified quickly and accurately, with minimal nuisance alarms.

Delay and response complete the model. Physical barriers buy time, while Multisys® gives operators the unified picture and audit trail they need to respond decisively and demonstrate compliance afterwards.
